About us

Proud to do things the Schmidt way

OUR STORY

People first, always

Founded in 1934 by Hubert Schmidt, Schmidt is now Europe’s leading kitchen and interior solutions brand—but we’re proud to still be family-owned and run, with Hubert’s grandchildren now leading the company. With no shareholders to answer to, our people are our priority—our customers, franchisees, and employees.

That outlook comes through in everything we do. We’re known for our high-quality made-to-measure products that give customers complete flexibility. Our employees are trusted partners who help customers bring their interiors dreams to life.

OUR VISION

The Schmidt way

For more than 60 years, Schmidt has built a community driven by the same passion: delivering amazing home design solutions, the right way.

What is the right way?

Hiring and empowering fantastic people to make a real difference to our customers’ lives, by designing, selling, and fitting high-quality, sustainable, and bespoke home living products.

We’re committed to your success—because your success is our customers’ success and our collective success. That’s our promise to you.

Jacomo
Sales Designer
For me, it all started when I bought a kitchen from Schmidt. I was blown away by the outstanding customer experience. I was looking for a new job and it made me want to become a sales consultant. In my team, we share the same vision of doing things the right way. For me, that’s what Schmidt’s DNA is all about.
OUR VALUES

Build a career that inspires you

Our values define how we show up for customers—and how we show up for you too.

Trust

Our customers trust Schmidt to offer not only excellent products but an excellent experience, from first consultation to finished project. You’re why.

Challenge

We never settle for less than 100% happy customers—and we’re excited and inspired to solve challenges to make that happen.

Progress

Our training academy is among the best in the world. From the day you start and throughout your career, you’ll find you’re always growing.

Ambition

We measure our success by your success—within Schmidt and beyond. A career here sets you up for wherever you want to go in life.

PROTECTING TOMORROW

Ethics and sustainability at our heart

Sustainability has been a huge part of our ethos for many years. The world around us has inspired our creativity and fuelled our projects for 60 years: we’re fierce advocates for production practices that protect and respect the environment.

We have enjoyed global success and we’re proud of it—but we’re a family-run business at our heart, not ‘big business’. The Schmidt way means leaving the world a better place than we found it.

Intelligently sourced materials

93% of the raw materials and components we use to manufacture our products are sourced within Europe. By choosing local suppliers, we reduce the impact transport has on the environment and champion local economic development.

Sustainable, safe production

We’re the only manufacturer to be certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment), ISO 45001 (health and safety) and ISO 50001 (energy management) international standards. We take our commitment to safe, sustainable production extremely seriously—all our materials start their journey the right way.

Responsible forest management

We only use PEFC (Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified wood for our products, which guarantees our wood is sourced from forests managed according to environmental, social, and sustainable best practices. When you work with Schmidt, you can trust you’re protecting the world for tomorrow.

A second lease of life

We’re firm believers in second chances. We upcycle timber offcuts, recover used furniture, and are growing our 100% recycled product ranges. And our fundamental ethos is building high-quality products that last for many years to come.

Supporting causes that matter

Schmidt has proudly supported the SOS Children’s Villages charity for many years, donating millions of pounds to help children who have lost one or both parents, or who have families at risk. As a family business ourselves, this is a cause that’s very dear to us.
